Albatross Golf: Thais on fire

Gurgaon: After Puwit Anupansuebsai’s fireworks on day one, it was the turn of fellow Thai, Sarit Suwannarut, to take centre-stage on day two of the 3rd Albatross International Junior Golf Championship India, at the ITC Classic Golf Resort.

Sarit, playing in category ‘B’, followed a 69 on the opening day with a superb six-under 66, to take the overall lead on nine-under par 135, a stroke ahead of Puwit, who added a 69 to his first-day 67. In third place overall are two gifted girls – Benyapa Niphatsophon of Thailand and China’s Wu Sha, both playing in category ‘B’. Sarit leads his category by 13 shots, while Puwit is out in front in category ‘C’ by 16 shots – both dominating their competition.

Meanwhile, Indian boys took the honours in category ‘A’, with Arjun Singh digging deep for a two-under 70 after an opening 76. A shot behind in second place is Manu Gandas, while Abhishek Kuhar and Rohan Govil sit in a tie for third. Also doing India proud was Amrita Anand – on top of category ‘C’ (girls) after two days – and Aadil Bedi, a comfortable five clear of his nearest challenger in category ‘D’.
