New Delhi: India’s premier junior golf tour – Albatross Junior Tour – unveiled the prestigious ‘The Albatross Trophy’ for its internationally-acclaimed junior golf championship - the 3rd Albatross International Junior Golf Championship India 2011 on Monday at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. India’s top league professional golfer Vikrant Chopra, who recently finished as Runner-up in the Bilt Open 2011, unveiled the glittering Albatross Trophy at the ceremony.

The 3rd Albatross International Junior Golf Championship player field will include 167 junior golfers from 10 countries – China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, UAE, South Africa, Sweden, USA and host India.

Asian golf’s talent pools China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Europe’s major golf destination Sweden and African golf’s powerhouse South Africa have sent their junior golfers first time to compete in this Championship.

The three-round Albatross Junior Golf Championship, co-sanctioned by Hank Haney International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT), USA will be played on 23rd, 24th and 25th November 2011 at Classic Golf Resort, Gurgaon in Delhi NCR.

Speaking at the Press conference, Vikrant Chopra, India Pro-Golfer said, “The interest shown by golfers from several new countries is testament to the tournament being recognised globally as a highly competitive platform for Junior golf. I wish all the players the best of luck.”

Tournament Highlights:

•        The 3rd Albatross International Junior Golf Championship India 2011 has been approved by the R&A for being counted for World Amateur Golf Ranking Points.

•        The event has been co-sanctioned by Hank Haney IJGT, USA. 

•        China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Sweden and South Africa participate for the first time

•        Team of high ranking junior golfers from Hank Haney IJGA will participate.
