Ladies Golf: Vani leads Category A

Mumbai: Vani Kapoor shot 78 but managed to have a share of the lead with Gursimar Badhwal (76-77) from Rail Coach factory Golf Club, Kapurtala after two rounds in the Usha Western India Ladies Golf on Wednesday. They share the lead in Gold Division for Handicap 12 and below. Aditi Ashok and Raksha Phadke were tied third. Gurbani Singh, who was hit by a penta on par-4 12th hole shot 81 and is fifth.



Vani, who has been doing well even in the company of pros this season, is leading by four in Category A (16-19 years) over Raksha Phadke (78-79). Gurbani Singh (77-81) was lying third.

Gursimar, who plays at RCF Kapurthala Golf Course, the home course of Gaganjeet Bhullar, had the best round of 77 on a tough day for scoring at the BPGC. The other golfer with a round of 77 was Astha Madan, who was however down in sixth place at 160.

Aditi Ashok leads Category B (14-16 years) with rounds of 79 and 78 and she is followed by Vidushi Sinha (79-81). In Category C (12-13 years) Amrita Anand (78-91) is the leader with Suchitra Ramesh (88-87) second.

In the Combined standing for Category A and B, Vani Kapoor is leading at 153 with Aditi Ashok and Raksha Phadke second at 157.

Amandeep Drall, 19, from Shivalik Golf course, Chandi Mandir near Chandigarh, achieved the unique feet of Hole - in - One on - 189 yard par three Hole No. 8. It was her first-ever ace. She had 79 and 87 in her two rounds.

Usha are supporting the four regional events, Southern India, the Northern India, Western and Eastern India and the and the All India Amateur events on the IGU Ladies circuit. Usha also supports Junior golf with tournaments at Delhi, Bangalore and Chandigarh and conduct the Junior Training Programme at the DGC since 2006.
