New Delhi: Usha International, one of India’s leading household consumer durables brand, has been associated with the Junior Training Programme (JTP) of the Delhi Golf Club since 2006 with the aim of introducing golf to youngsters between the age groups of eight to seventeen years and discovering and nurturing talented juniors. The 33rd Usha Junior Training Programme is divided into four 10-day camps slated between 13th May – 21st June, 2019.
The second camp of the Usha Junior Training Programme for Golf 2019 concluded today at Delhi Golf Club with Ishan Ahuja, Viraj Khaturia, Aftab Bakshi, Arman Chacko and Shivkaran Singh taking away the maximum number of prizes across categories like Putting, Chipping, Pitching, Bunker, Long Drive and Playing competitions. Fifty talented youngsters in the second camp were trained under the guidance of Arjuna Awardee, former ace-golfer and renowned golf coach Mrs. Nonita Lall Qureshi.
The 33rd Usha Junior Training Programme is divided into four 10-day camps starting May 13, May 23, June 2, and June 12, respectively. All participating kids will be trained on the different aspects of the game under the guidance of well-known Category-A coaches, Ajay Gupta, Vikram Sethi, Nonita Lall Qureshi, and Jasjit Singh. Participants are segregated by their level of ability – Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced. A daily session of two-hours covers different aspects of the game – Long Drive, Putting, Chipping, Bunker, and Pitching, as well as the basic rules and etiquettes of the game. Each camp concludes with a prize distribution ceremony where participants are awarded according to age and ability across all disciplines.
Over the years, the Programme has earned a reputation of being the training ground of world class professional golfers including the likes of Shiv Kapur, Daniel Chopra, Rashid Khan, and Gauri Monga, who are past participants of JTP. While the programme is a way of discovering and nurturing promising youngsters, the nature of the game teaches them concentration, focus, goal setting, conflict resolution, and leadership skills, lessons that serve them well beyond the greens. All of this aligns to Usha’s commitment to help improve the quality of life for youth through sports and skill development activities.
Usha International supports numerous sports and related tournaments in the country including Ultimate Flying disc, Cricket League, Amateur Golf, Deaf Cricket, Blind Sports (Athletics, Kabaddi, Judo and Powerlifting), and Football.
