Indian Olympic Association quietly disbands its ethics panel

New Delhi: Its president Suresh Kalmadi is in jail facing a slew of corruption charges, but the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has quietly disbanded its Ethics Commission, set up in September to investigate unethical practices in IOA as well as the national sports federations.

The ethics panel - which comprised retired Supreme Court and high court judges - was formed along with the Arbitration Commission after the IOA amended its constitution and got it approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
