Bangalore: ‘Instant tennis', a coaching nugget designed to help beginners overcome their fears and wield a racquet with confidence, was formally unveiled at the Kinesis Tennis Academy here on Saturday evening.
“Many people watch tennis on television and love the game but somehow they don't play the sport and feel inhibited. ‘Instant tennis' aims to help them get over their fears and become aware that it is a simple sport and also accept that everyone can play it,” said academy director Krishna Kumar.
The academy's coaches and parents of their wards, indulged in a 45-minute session that dealt with the basics and helped the nervous beginner, get a feel of the sport.
“I wish we have similar structures in hockey too. A solid coaching system is critical to our national sport and sadly we don't have that yet,” said Jude Felix.
The former India hockey captain was the chief guest at the function.
