Asia Cup final: Dhoni finishes off the game with his signature six, India beat Bangladesh by eight wickets

dhonileads1Mirpur: After Shikhar Dhawan (60 off 44 balls) and Virat Kohli (41 off 28 balls) had taken India very close to victory before Dhwan was caught by Soumya Sarkar off Taskin Ahmed, with India still needing 22 runs to win in 14 balls, Mahendra Singh Dhoni joined Kohli and game changed completely in India’s favour.

Captain cool once again showed his power hitting as he went on to score 20 off just six balls, finishing off the game with his signature six. India won the Asia Cup for the sixth time, beating Bangladesh by eight wickets with seven balls to spare.

Earlier, a quickfire from Mahmudullah (33 off 13) and sensible innings from Sabbir (32 off 29) helped Bangladesh reach a respectable 125 for 5 in a run-truncated 15 over match in the final of Asia Cup t20 at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium at Mirpur on Sunday.

Batting first the Bangla Tiger were reduced to 75 for 5 in the 12th over and it seemed that Bangladesh would fail to put up a competitive total against in-form India. However, Mamudullah had different plans. He first took Ashish  Nehra to task and hit him for 14 runs. Thereafter, he treated Hardik Pandya with disdain, hitting the young bowler for 21 runs, including two sixes and a four.

However, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a good last over, conceding just seven runs. Bnagladesh finished their innings at 120 for 5 in 15 overs.
