A report in Times of India writes that Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek Sands edged past the French duo of Stephanie Foretz Gacon and Kristina Mladenovic 6-3 , 6-2 to move into the third round of the women’s double competition at the Wimbledon.

Sania-Mattek who are seeded 13th in tournament now would face an uphill task in their next game as they would be up against the winner of the heavy duty clash between American pair of Venus and Serena Williams and the fourth seeded Russian pair of Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova.

The pair even did not do much wrong in their match did admit that they would have to raise their game for the next irrespective of the team they are facing.

"We started the year late, then we won a tournament in Brussels, lost early at the French Open and now here we are working our way through. It's a tough draw, whoever comes through, to play a team of that quality so early in the tournament. But to win a Grand Slam you have to play the best of teams. You can't complain,” Sania was in the report.

Meanwhile a report in Mail Today says that the Indo-American pair of Sania and Mattek ntched up the straight set victory in just 55 minutes to advance to the third round of the Championships.

The report writes that Sania and Mattek converted three of the five breakpoints, while their opponents failed to capitalize on one opportunity they got. In the first set they won 27 points as compared to 17 points by their rivals and whereas in the second set they converted two of the three breakpoints and managed to save the lone breakpoint that the French duo got.
