BCCI appoints Katju to head panel to interact with Justice Lodha Committee

Anurag ThakurMumbai: Justice Markandey Katju (retd) will head a panel assisted by three eminent counsels, including Abhinav Mukerjee, the counsel of BCCI, which will be a single point interface for the BCCI to interact with the Justice Lodha Committee as well advise and guide the cricket board.

This decision was taken by the Working Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which met at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The Working Committee deliberated the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court of India in the matter BCCI vs Cricket Association of Bihar & Others. The members were in one voice of the view that the recommendations were complex and would involve large-scale changes to be implemented across the board. Many technical and legal aspects were likely to come up in the future. Considering the complexities of the issue, it was unanimously decided that a panel headed by a retired Supreme Court judge assisted by three eminent counsels, including Abhinav Mukerjee, the counsel of BCCI be formed.
