Sub-junior Women National C’ship: Bengal defeat Citizen Hockey XI 3-0; Mizoram beat Assam 5-0

Hockey 26Nagaon, Assam: The second day at the 6th Hockey India Sub-junior Women National Championship 2016 (B Division) witnessed the domination by the teams from the East. The first match between Bengal Hockey Association and Citizen Hockey XI in Pool A ended with the former winning the game by 3-0. The second game of the day in Pool B saw the Hockey Mizoram team beating the Assam Hockey team by 5-0.

The first match was a brilliant display by the Bengal Hockey Association taking the game in the attacking mode right from the beginning. The first goal came from the stick of Sabana Khatoon. The match continued with the domination of the Bengal team who were awarded penalty corners in the 15th minute and 64th minute and was successfully converted by Sathi Dalui. The match ended with a score line of 3-0.

The second match was a one sided affair with the Hockey Mizoram team showing mercy to their opponents. The former took the lead in the first half and sustained it to open the second half with a score line of 1-0 in favour of Mizoram. The second half started with Hockey Mizoram pressing hard and earning a penalty corner in the 48th minute which was converted perfectly. The Mizoram team didn’t look back and went for the kill with three back to back goals within the span of 5 minutes. The match ended with a score of 5-0 in favour of the former.
