Indianapolis: Extending a warm welcome for 2014 to all US cricket players, coaches, umpires, scorers, volunteer administrators and fans, United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) CEO Darren Beazley has promised a fantastic year for the sport in America. After a short break, the USACA Board and staff have been working very hard implementing our plans for the coming season.
In USACA’s January Edition of Partnerships, Mr Beazley said "Communication is the key ingredient for success when managing a national sport and USACA will be doing its utmost to ensure that the changes that will take place this year are communicated in a clear and timely manner. Please “like us” on Facebook to ensure that you are alerted whenever new information comes out or consult the 2014 US Cricket Calendar so that you know what is happening in cricket in your local area each month. "
The year has started on a very positive note with the announcement of ESPN’s live coverage of the finals of the 2014 US National Cricket Championships from Worlds Sports Park in Indianapolis beginning August 21, 2014 and concluding with both finals on Sunday, August 24.
The USACA and ESPN3 have signed an agreement to deliver the 2014 US National Cricket Championships exclusively on the multi-screen sports network.
ESPN will be working with USACA to promote the lead in series to the Championships (commencing in May) as well as all of the action at the Championships themselves on a variety of platforms and devices. This is a wonderful opportunity for the sport to take a giant step forward and I welcome the support of ESPN team and thank them for their belief in our vision to make cricket ‘a sport for all Americans’.
Another major focus for USACA for this year will be in the area of Talent Development with the announcement of the ‘US Talented Player Pathway’ this week. Working with the Regions, USACA will be implementing programme for Under 15’s, Under 17’s and Under 19’s.
"Finally, I would like to congratulate the five (5) US Umpires selected to participate in the ICC America’s Umpire Development Project. I wish them well in their work in the coming months and look forward to them positively impacting cricket at all levels," said Mr Beazley said in the Official E-Newsletter.
“US cricket has worked very hard last year to increase the exposure of our sport in America,” said Gladstone Dainty, President, USACA. “We have been developing a strong foundation on which to showcase cricket to the American public and we believe that the reinvigoration of the US National Cricket Championships will create a great deal of excitement both within and external to the US cricket community.”
