Dubai: India registered a thumping nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, after bowling out the hosts for a record low total of 57 runs in just 13.1 overs.
Spin wizard Kuldeep Yadav (4/7) and all-rounder Shivam Dube (3/4) shared seven wickets between them, dismantling the UAE batting order in spectacular fashion. India made light work of the chase, wrapping up the contest in only 4.3 overs.
Collapse After Bright Start
Opting to bowl first, India captain Suryakumar Yadav saw UAE openers Alishan Sharafu (22) and skipper Muhammad Waseem (19) begin positively, putting on 26 runs for the first wicket. But Jasprit Bumrah’s breakthrough triggered a collapse. From that point, wickets tumbled in clusters, with only two UAE batters reaching double figures.
Kuldeep Named Player of the Match
Reflecting on his performance, Kuldeep Yadav said: “It was tough for me (not playing a lot recently). I was working on my bowling and fitness with Adrian le Roux, our Strength & Conditioning coach, and everything clicked tonight. In this format, the length matters the most. It’s about reading the batter and reacting to what they’re trying to do.”
Clinical Approach from India
Captain Suryakumar Yadav hailed his team’s sharp execution: “Wanted to see how the wicket was playing; it was the same in the second innings. Clinical performance from the boys. We wanted good energy and attitude in the field, and that carried over into the batting. The pitch looked on the slower side, so spinners had more dominance. But Hardik, Bumrah and Dube provided great support too.
“Abhishek is phenomenal – the world’s number one batter for a reason. He always puts the team first, which is unbelievable.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming clash with Pakistan, Yadav added: “We’re all excited. Everyone wants to play a good game, and we’re really looking forward to it.”
UAE Left to Regroup
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem admitted his side fell short after a promising start: “We started well as a batting team but lost wickets in a cluster, and that cost us. India bowled really well, executing their plans perfectly. That’s why they’re the number one team. We have to come back stronger and learn from these mistakes.”
With this emphatic result, India not only sent a strong message ahead of their high-profile fixtures but also showcased the depth and dominance of their bowling attack.
