sachin sehwagIf Sachin Tendulkar was a nightmare for Australia on the cricket pitch, VVS Laxman reserved his best for the Aussies and played some of his best innings against them to give India some famous wins. Here we list the top five Indian batsmen against Australia in Tests.

Sachin Tendulkar: The Master Blaster has always been a treat to watch whenever he has played against the Aussies. In 39 matches and 74 innings Sachin Tendulkar has scored 3630 runs with 11 centuries and 16 fifties. His best score of 241 not out came at Sydney in 2004. Tendulkar is the highest scorer for India against the Australians.

VVS Laxman: This guy loved facing Australia. He performed his best against the mighty Aussies. His innings of 281 at Eden Gardens in 2001, 148 in Adelaide, 200 not out in Delhi and 167 & 178 at Sydney Cricket Ground are his memorable innings played against Australia. In all, Laxman played 29 matches and 54 innings and scored 2434 runs with best score of 281 that came in the crucial Kolkata Test in 2001. This innings gave India a memorable win after enforcing the follow on.

Rahul Dravid: The Wall of India played brilliant against all the teams. But his great innings was always overshadowed by VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar. It was Dravid and VVS Laxman who gave India unforgettable wins over Australia many times. He played a good supporting role to VVS Laxman at Eden Gardens and Adelaide Tests. Their record breaking partnerships ensured India famous wins. Against Australia, Dravid played 32 matches and 60 innings and scored 2143 runs with two hundreds and 13 fifties. His best score of 233 came at Adelaide in 2003.

Virender Sehwag: The Indian opener had been dashing against Australia as well. Overall Sehwag played 22 matches and 43 innings and scored 1738 runs with three hundreds and nine fifties. His best score of 195 came at Melbourne Cricket ground in 2003.

Virat Kohli: The current skipper of India in all the three formats was terrific against Australia when India toured in 2013 and 14. He scored three consecutive hundreds in his captaincy debut there. In this current Indian batting line up, Virat Kohli, Murli Vijay and Chesteshwar Pujara are the leading run scorers for India against Australia. Virat Kohli has played 12 matches and 22 innings, he has scored 1276 runs with six centuries and three half centuries. His best score of 169 came in 2014 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
