JP Atray Cricket Tournament: Brilliant unbeaten ton by Rishab Pant for Reliance I

Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz of India against Namibia in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016Chandigarh/Mohali: Reliance I beat ONGC by 8 wickets to top Pool D and setup a quarterfinal clash with PCC in the 22nd All India JP Atray Cricket Tournament at IS Bindra Pca Stadium Mohali on September 22. 

Reliance I winning the toss and electing to field bowled out ONGC for 200 in 47 overs. Parshant Bhandari 72 ,Ishan Kishan 30, Radhey Sham Gupta 25 and Parveen Gupta 25 being the principal run getters for ONGC.

For Reliance I Baba Khan 3 for 35, Yuzvinder Chahal 3 for 28 and Rush Kalaria 2 for 18 were the main wicket takers.

Replying reliance opened with Unmukt Chand and Rishab Pant and the duo put on 30 runs for the first wicket before Unmukt was castled by Sumit Narwal for 7. Thereafter, Jitesh Sharma (33) added 72 runs for the 2nd wicket with Rishab Pant. Rishab Pant and Akshdeep Nath then were involved in an unbroken partnership of 102 runs for the 3rd wicket. Rishab Pant went on to blast and unbeaten century 122 of 71 balls splashed with 11 boundaries and 9 huge sixes. Akshdeep Nath remained unbeaten 29 of 29 balls with four boundaries.

Sumit Narwal and Nitesh Rana scalped one wicket each for ONGC. Rishab Pant was named man of the match for his brilliant century. Reliance I scored 204 for 2 in 25.1 overs.

In the 2nd match played at TAU Devilal Stadium at Panchkula, Baroda got the better of MPCA by 55 runs and got 4 points while MPCA got Zero. Baroda won the toss and elected to bat first and rattled up 300 for 6 in 50 overs. Kedar Devdhar and Dhiren Mistry added 140 runs for the 2nd wicket. Before Dhiren Mistry was castled by Saurav Dhaliwal for 70 off 84 balls inclusive of 7 boundaries. Kedhar Devdhar went on to complete a brilliant century 117 off 122 balls inclusive of 12 boundaries and 1 six. Other notable contribution with the bat came from Vishnu Solanki unbeaten 55 off 66 balls.

For MPCA Kuldeep Singh 2 for 65 and Saurav Dhaliwal 2 for 60 were the main wicket takers.

Replying MPCA were shot out for 245 in 45.1 overs. Their innings revolved around a punishing century by Saurav Dhaliwal who cracked 102 runs off mere 78 balls studded with 7 boundaries and 6 sixes and Nishant Khuswal 47 off 67 balls with 4 boundaries and 1 six. For Baroda Irfan Pathan 3 for 37, Murtaza Vohra 2 for 54 , and V.Solanki 2 for 11 were the most successful bowlers.

In the third match played at GMMS Sec-26 Chandigarh, CAG won by 12 runs by VJD system and got 4 points while PCA colts got 0. PCA colts were put into bat by CAG and were skittled out for 162 in 46.4 overs. Taruwar Kohli 42, Sharad Lumba 25 and Sanveer Singh 23 were the main run getters for PCA colts. For CAG Biplab Samntray 3 for 25, Ritu Raj 2 for 26 and Bipul Sharma 2 for 37 were the main wicket takers. Replying CAG were 100 for 4 in 31.2 overs when heavy rain brought an end to the play. Biplab Samntray 41 off 63 balls with 5 boundaries and was named man of the match. For PCA Colts Subek Gill, Baltej Singh, Karan Kaila and Vinay scalped one wicket each.

CAG, Air India, and Reliance I, PCC, ONGC, IOC, PCA Colts, and Baroda CA made it to the quarter finals of the tournament. The first three quarter final will be played as per the following schedule.
