Ravichandran Ashwin: Has India found the all-rounder it needed?

ashwin test 26Ravichandran Ashwin is currently the number 1 all rounder in the latest Test rankings released by the ICC. He became the first Indian to score two centuries and take two five-wicket hauls in the same series. He is also the fourth player to have reached this landmark. He even surpassed Sachin Tenduklar’s record of three centuries against the West Indies, only to be behind Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar and Rahul Dravid.

It is important to note that all of his centuries have come against the West Indies. He, along with Wridhiman Saha, rescued India from a difficult position of 87/4 and helped India post a score of 353 in the first innings of the third Test match.

Even captain Kohli was seen praising his players especially Ashwin in the press conference. He said, “Saha and Ashwin in the first innings forged the most important partnership in the series. We had quite a few, but that for me it stands out till now in terms of where the series has gone. We have been able to seal the game because of the effort of those two. If we had lost two more wickets, you never know, we wouldn't have been on top in the Test match. Lot of credit goes to those two as well. Ashwin is obviously very consistent; he's a world class spinner.”

Ashwin has been that special all rounder for India which every team wants. He is a complete all rounder who can bat as a proper batsman and is a class bowler as well.
