Virat Kohli equals Rahul Dravid's 13-year-old record

virat kohli 26The first Test between West Indies and India saw numerous records being broken by the Indians as they thrashed the hosts to notch up a well deserved victory outside home in their quest to clinch the number 1 spot on the Test Rankings.

While there were a lot of positives to take back from the Test, which included the rise of Ashwin as an all-rounder and the seam bowling department which has improved multifold and wrecked havoc in the first innings, the case in question here is the double ton by skipper Virat Kohli.

Only nine double tons had come from the willow of the Indians in the past outside Asia, out of which 8 of them were in drawn causes. Prior to this knock, only former skipper and current India 'A' and Under 19 coach Rahul Dravid had the prestigious record of scoring a double century in a winning cause which came in the famous Adelaide Test of 2003 when 'The Wall' had taken it on himself to see the Indians home in what was their first victory against the mighty Australians in their home soil.

Adding to that sole double ton of Jammy on the list, current skipper ensured that he saw the visitors home through his aggressive captaincy and field tactics.
Although, the magnitude of Kohli's masterclass does not outweigh Dravid's achievement, it certainly does pave the way for Kohli to take his game to greater heights and turn the tide in favour of India in the years to come on the Test Arena and mould a side of "Invincibles" replicating that of the Aussies of the 90's and 2000's and the Windies of the 70's and a large part of the 80s as well and stamp their authority on the cricketing world.
