Galle: Ravichandran Ashwin bagged his best Test figures - 6/46 - away from home to bundle out Angelo Mathew's team for 183 in just two sessions of play on the first of first Test at The Galle International cricket stadium here on Wednesday. 

However, India too stumbled briefly in reply and were reduced to 2 for 28 before Shikhar Dhawan (53) and skipper Virat Kohli (45) added 100 runs for the third wicket to take the visitors to 128 without further loss by end of the day’s play.

Earlier, Dhammika Prasad trapped Lokesh Rahul for 7, while Rohit Sharma got out in a similar manner to Angelo Mathews for 9.

However it was Ashwin’s day on Wednesday as playing his first Test match on Sri Lankan soil, the off spinner finished with 6 for 46 as the home team were bowled out in 49.4 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat.

Meanwhile, leg spinner Amit Mishra bagged two wickets while Ishant Sharma and Varun Aaron scalped one wicket each.
