Kumble, Srinath not to seek KSCA re-election

anil-kumbleBangalore: The former Indian leg-spinner and captain of the Indian cricket team, Anil Kumble made it clear in a press conference in Bangalore that he and his ex team-mate and former India fast bowler Javagal Srinath are not going to seek re-election once their tenure gets over next month in the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

Kumble and Srinath were the president and secretary of Karnataka State Cricket Association respectively.

Kumble said that their decision of not standing in the elections has nothing to do with the criticism which has come from some quarters or from KSCA members and furthur stated that a new committee will bring in new and fresh ideas which is good for cricket in the state.

Kumble made it clear that his main aim was to go out there in the middle and promote the game of cricket and not to seek re-election. Kumble and Srinath, along with Venkatesh Prasad took charge of the KSCA in November 21, 2010.

Former Test all-rounder Roger Binny and Bangalore-based industrialist Sadanand Mayya were also a part of this group who came into power after defeating Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar, scion of the Mysore Royal family, by a margin of 33 votes.

Kumble however said that he and his group of people are not running away of responsibilties and will be there if required for the support and growth of cricket in the state.
