Shane Watson’s advice helped me a lot: Henriques

moises-henriques-australiaChennai: Moises Henriques started off his India tour on a bright note by picking up four wickets in the practice match against Indian Board President’s XI. He deceived the batsmen with his medium pace and is now one of the favorites for the bowling spot in Australian Team for the first Test.

When he was asked if he was going to be playing eleven, he simply said that he is not the right person to speak on this. “That's not for me to decide. Steve smith and Glenn Maxwell batted really well and even I tried to adjust to the conditions which were very comfortable for batting,” he said.

However balance can tilt in his favour because of him being a medium pacer. When asked about strength, he said, “At this stage I'm the only seam bowling all-rounder in the team. But as per the conditions in sub-continent the spin bowling option is a better option. So I guess whatever the situation asks for, the squad has got a good balance to take up the challenge.”

The 26-year-old said, “I took advice from Shane Watson to understand how to bowl and it has been a great learning experience for me. It’s my honour that I am sharing dressing room with one of the best all-rounders of all times. What I tried to do today was something that Shane does really well. He’s very much disciplined with his line and length and creates a lot of pressure on the batsmen.”

The all-rounder was all praise for Ambati Rayudu who top scored for BP XI. “He certainly batted really well. He used his feet very well to charge the spinners when he was supposed to. He might be a bit disappointed with the way he got out at the end. It looked like he was doing it very easily in the middle and he looks like a high-quality player,” he said.
