Gagan knocks out Bhaskar in G D Memorial Badminton Championship

New Delhi: Gagan Sharma knocked out Bhaskar Chakraborty (21-13, 21-16) in the pre-quarterfinal at GD Memorial Badminton Championship here on Wednesday.

 

Gagan Sharma had a head start taking a lead of 5-1 and was consistently ahead of his competitor in terms of points. Bhaskar Chakraborty tried to back the fight with certain shots, but his shots was only restricted to the net. Unseeded player smashing quality helped him to win the set with a large margin (21-13).

During the second set, the match was totally unpredictable as both the player counter attacks from their sides of the court turned the crowd attention. It was interesting till the score of 11-9. But the unseeded player reinforced his growing reputation as the one to watch out for by dumping his opponent Bhaskhar Chakroborty to make place in boys singles (21-16). 

In other matches, Rohan Kapoor and Arush Sethia beat Geet Gulati and Sushant Morcha in the deciding set to secure a place in boys singles (21-8,19-21,21-16)
