India register second consecutive win, defeats Ireland 2-1

women hockey teamNew Delhi: In an exciting clash in the second test match against Ireland in Dublin, the Indian women hockey team obtained another win by defeating them 2-1.

India opened the account in the 18th minute of the game when Soundarya Yendala made no mistake in converting a penalty corner and taking the lead by 1-0 against Ireland. It was soon followed by Sunita's field goal in the 20th minute which added to the lead as India dominated the first half of the game until Irelands Nicola Evans penetrated a goal before the half time and reducing the margin to 2-1.


The second half of the match saw a tougher fight as both the teams concentrated on defense and restricting each other from doing any damage. Both the teams played a sensible and a calculated game but failed to penetrate any goals in order to add on to their respective scores, as a result, the second half saw a complete dry run without any goals coming in and helped India to register a 2-1 win over Ireland.

The final game of the test series is scheduled to be played on 18th April 2014 at 1830hrs (local time- Ireland)
