Gou Zhongwen named Chinese Olympic Committee president

Beijing: Gou Zhongwen, director of China's General Administration of Sport, was named the president of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) here on Wednesday.

In addition, former COC president Liu Peng was named honorary chairman of the committee, reports Xinhua.

The announcements were made by the COC during its 2016 session.

Liu has served as president of the COC since 2005.
