11Even Sports Inter-School Championships: Hansraj boys and girls in semifinals

ttNew Delhi: The Senior Boys of Sprindales School (Pusa Road) will take on Bhatnagar International School (BIS) from Paschim Vihar in the semifinals of the 11Even Sports Inter-School Championships here tomorrow.

In the quarterfinal matches played at Thagraj Stadium, BIS struggled past Mother’s International School 3-2 while Springdales defeated Sachdeva Public School (Rohini) 3-1. In the other semifinals, Bal Bharti Public School, who beat Manav Sthali (R Block) Rajinder Nagar, 3-0, will clash with the Vasant Kunt branch of Bhatnagar Intenational School. They beat Indraprastha World School 3-0.

In a way, the BIS dominated the Delhi school event with two of their branches entering the semifinals.

In Junior Boys section, Hansraj Model School (Punjabi Bagh), Adarshila Vidhyapeet, Manav Sthali (R-Block), Rajinder Nagar and St Marks Public School entered the semifinals beating their rivals rather easily.

In Senior Girls, Bal Bharti Public School, Rohini, had to play their best to beat Bhatnagar International School (Paschim Vihar) to enter the semifinals. Their 3-2 win enabled them to meet Manav Sthali, Rajinder Nagar, in the last-four stages as the R-Block school rolled over their quarterfinal opponents, Sachdeva Public School, 3-0. In the other semifinal match-up, New Era Public School will take on Hansraj Model School as they beat their opponents with a similar 3-0 verdict.

In Junior Girls, Bal Bharti Public School (Pitam Pura) played a gritty match to beat Delhi Public School (Rohini) as the former won 3-2 to earn a semifinal match up against Hansraj Model School, who defeated Sachdeva Public School 3-0. In the other match, BIS, Paschim Vihar, beat BBPS (Rohini) 3-0. However, another branch of BBPs (Gangaram Hospital Road) survived against St Thomas school 3-2 to enter the semifinals.

Both Sabhya and Shriya, carrying the entire burden of BBPS (Rohini) on their shoulders, acquitted themselves very well to pull of thrilling victory over BIS. Shriya, in particular, played a vital role in her school’s victory as she won both the singles which paved the way for their entry into the semifinals.

Similarly, there were very good matches in both the Junior Girls as well as in the Senior Boys sections which went down to the wire.

The semifinals and finals are slated for tomorrow, the concluding day of the championships.

Senior Girls (Quarterfinals): BBPS (Rohini) beat BIS (PV) 3-2, New Era beat BBPS (GR) 3-0, Hansraj Model beat BBPS (PP) 3-0, Manav Sthali beat Sachdeva Public School (Rohini) 3-0.

Junior Girls (Quarterfinals): BBPS (PP) beat DPS (Rohini) 3-2, BIS (PV) beat BBPS (Rohini) 3-0, BBPS (GR) beat St Thomas 3-2, Hansraj Model beat Sachdeva Public School (Ronihi) 3-0.
