Halfway through F1 calendar, are we seeing another Championship winning season for Hamilton?

lewis hamilton us gpFour consecutive race wins, the latest being the German Grand Prix, sees Lewis Hamilton through to the Championship lead by 19 points after having a miserable start to the season. He’s won all the races in the month of July and will be enjoying his summer break if his celebrations after the win at Germany are anything to go by.

To go from a deficit of 24 points to a lead of 19 in a span of four races is quite a feat that Hamilton has managed to achieve. With a string of bad luck at the beginning of the season to have managed to make it here shows what a great driver he is. Although he did not manage to get pole at the Hockenheimring, and although Nico seemed to have dominated the weekend, Hamilton never seemed to have given his best with the car. Going into the break at the top of the Championship table will put a wide grin on Lewis’ face. But was this expected? Is Lewis just too good for Nico?

Not wanting to take anything away from Nico, who is a very good driver and has driven some fantastic races with many race wins, seems that he isn’t able to live up to his teammate’s standards. Having been in a Championship winning car of the Mercedes woks team for the past two years and not having won a Championship and what we’ve seen so far this season seems to tell me that Nico might not be a match to Lewis.
All the races that Nico won at the beginning of the season were races when Lewis had contact with a car at the beginning or because he started from behind due to a penalty. Very rarely has Nico beaten Lewis in the race when Lewis had no problems with the car.
It appears to be Hamilton’s year again in 2016 but he might have to serve a few more penalties due to the extra engines he might need in the latter part of the season.

Nico, being an exceptional driver that he is with multiple race wins just doesn’t appear to show a consistent performance through the season to be able to win the championship. It does look like we’re heading towards a 4th Championship title for Lewis Hamilton, but it’s not over until it’s over isn’t it.
