The story that will remain: India vs Pakistan

With India coming to daggers end with Pakistan on Sunday, I wonder if it will hold the same feeling that it used to once upon a time? I don’t know! All I know is that yes the iconic INDIA VS PAKISTAN is back!!

I have specifically decided that I won’t be cladding the whole blog with facts and dates as to when these two eternal teams played; I want to take the readers through a journey, a journey of what I thought of these matches as a child and as a person.

I specifically remember being a school child and enjoying my summer vacations when India and Pakistan were playing a series, time and year eventually became in consequential to me, as all I remember was that people stood outside our home for hours to catch a glimpse (no! that wasn’t stone age, but a lot of people didn’t have T.V back then) and I also remember of having developed a love like feeling of Wasim AKram, Waqar Younis and in later years Shoaib Akhtar.

Collecting pictures, talking about him, everything looked blissful to me, but what drove me into this madness was the matches between India and Pakistan. I remember how crazy we all were, colouring up ourselves to the nation, wearing our best clothes with emblems on them. It was nothing short of a party.

With one wicket going down every soul in the periphery saddened a bit more and with every win registered a battered life would get a reason to smile.
The last such madness I saw was last year, World Cup, yes, I grew up, but people around me hadn’t! Office people put up huge projectors and made sure it looked like larger than life!! And no one could move till the last ball, no work was done. WE INDEED BLED BLUE!

I remember, a friend saying “arreh we won the world cup” I retorted saying no, there is a match left, but he smiled and said “we won the world cup”
With a nation of such passionate people around us, will India relive the moment again tomorrow? I hope so and I know you hope so too.
