We will have to assess whether Yuvraj Singh is ready to field for two days: MS Dhoni

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that he is satisfied by the way his team is playing in the shorter formats and said that the team will improve with time in five-day cricket.

Dhoni said that the Indian team might look the weakest on papers and it is a different looking team after the retirement of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Dhoni said that the team is slowly growing in confidence and it will improve with time.

India in the next few months will face some stern challenge from England, Pakistan and Australia, on that Dhoni said that the team is really looking forward to the coming series. He said that the players need to be fit for the busy time ahead.

Indian players like Virat Kohli and Harbhajan Singh have earlier said that they would like to see turning tracks for the series against England and Dhoni backed his teammates.

Dhoni said that it has been a long time since he has seen spinners dominating a Test match and would like to see that happening against England. He said that there is no definition for sporting pitches as one will see turning tracks in sub-continent.

Dhoni expressed his concern over Yuvraj Singh saying he is not sure whether the left-hander is ready for Test matches.

Dhoni said that it is difficult for him to comment on Yuvraj’s fitness. He said that Test cricket have its own uncertainties unlike ODIs or T20s. He said that in ODIs one is sure that he needs to be in the field for 50 overs but in Test matches a team can bat to one to two days. Dhoni said that they will have to assess whether Yuvraj is ready to field for two days.

Dhoni also said that Yuvraj is the best judge about how he is feeling, he has played well in domestic circuit and it is up to him to reflect on his game.
