Chris Cairns sues Ex-IPL Supremo Lalit Modi

New Delhi: The former New Zealand cricketer, Chris Cairns has sued ex supremo of Lalit Modi for twitter libel case in which he mentioned that Cairns was not picked up for IPL because of his past match fixing records in the rebel cricket league of India ICL.

When indiansportsnews.com contacted Simon Boyes, sports law expert at Nottingham Law School he said “Chris Cairns is suing Modi due to his tweet in which he mentioned that Cairns' have been not picked up for Indian Premier League due to his past match fixing records in ICL, the rebel cricket league of India. Cairns was very disappointed with the statement and that is why he is suing him.”

During the trials which opened on Monday Chris Cairns during the trial of the case Cairns accused Indian batsman Dinesh Mongia and TP Singh who played for the Chandigarh Lions in ICL were involved in match fixing reported the cricketnext.com.

When asked about the players involved in match fixing, he refused to comment on the matter.

The cricketer is very disturbed after the accusation and mentioned that he would sue him for tainting him and his career. The 41-year-old Chris mentioned that after he complained to ESPN Cricinfo the website withdrew the report, paid damages and apologized. But Modi declined to apologize.

Cairns added that this report was utter false and have reduced his self esteem to dust. He also mentioned that all the allegations were untrue and didn’t consist any element of truth in it.
