Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2016 – Leg 12: Amandeep Drall takes lead after round 1

Amandeep Drall NewHyderabad: On a day when the entire field struggled in difficult playing conditions, Chandigarh’s Amandeep Drall came up with a courageous performance to take the lead with a score of 6 over 77 on the first day of the 12th Leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Hyderabad Golf Club on Wednesday. Trailing her in second position is Pune’s Shweta Galande with a score of 7 over 78 . The INR 6,00,000 event will culminate on 5th August 2016.

Chandigarh’s Amandeep Drall carded bogeys on the 5th and 9th holes, along with a double on the 8th . Her lone birdie came in the front nine on the 7th hole. Her back nine comprised of bogeys on the 12th , 13th and 16th holes and she finished with a score of 6 over 77 after 18 holes.


Pune’s Shweta Galande is placed second with a score of 7 over 78 after 18 holes. Shweta’s card on the day included a lone birdie on the 8th hole and bogeys on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 10th , 11th 12th 13th and 14th holes.

Hero Order Of Merit Leader Neha Tripathi and Delhi Girl Ankita Tiwana are currently tied third with identical scores of 8 over 79 after 18 holes. Neha had a tough day in the park as she carded bogeys on the 1st , 4th, 5th ,9th and 14th holes and a double on the 3rd . Ankita’s card included birdies on the 7th , 10th and 15th holes and bogeys on the 5th, 9th 11th, 12th 13th 16th and 17th holes. She also carded a triple on the 8th hole.

Delhi’s Mehar Atwal and Hero Motor Corp Sponsored Sharmila Nicollet are tied fifth with identical scores of 9 over 80 at the end of round 1. Mehar had a shaky start to her front nine as she carded bogeys on the 1st 3rd and 4th holes. She also carded double bogeys on the 2nd and 7th holes. Her back nine saw her carding bogeys on the 13th, 17th and 18th holes, with her lone birdie of the day on the 8th. Sharmila’s card included a lone birdie on the 8th hole and bogeys on the 2nd, 7th, 10th, 11th , 12th and 13th holes. She also carded double bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes.

Delhi’s Ayesha Kapoor and Bengaluru golfer Nikki Ponappa are currently tied 7th with identical scores of 10 over 81 after 18 holes.


Delhi’s Trisha Sunil is placed 9th with a score of 11 over 82, followed by Kolkata’s Siddhi Kapoor and amateur Suchitra Ramesh tied at 10th position with a score of 13 over 84 at the end of round 1.
