BMCC, Blue Ridge begin RFYS campaign with wins

The Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) and Blue Ridge Public School notched impressive victories to make a bright start to their Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) football campaign at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) ground here on Saturday.

In a college boys’ qualifier, BMCC’s late charge helped them overcome College of Engineering Pune's challenge 3-1.

Vipul Trivedi (20th) gave BMCC the lead in the first session but Manthan Pardeshi (40th) equalised for COEP to keep the match alive. However, two goals within a span of nearly a minute by Rohan Deshmukh (60th) and Saurabh Bhowmick (61th) settled the issue for BMCC.

In the senior boys category, Suryadatta Group of Institutes trounced PB Jog Junior College 4-1. Ved Aralkar (17th), Mitaan Patil (21th), Rushabh Makwani (25th) and Wilfred Chettri (57th) scored for the winners while Aayush Waghmare (55th) reduced the margin for PB Jog.
