German side Stuttgart signs midfielder Tunay Torun

Berlin: Turkish international Tunay Torun joined German team Stuttgart in a deal that will keep the footballer in Germany till 2015, the club confirmed.

The former Berlin midfielder signed a three-year contract Wednesday following a medical check-up.

He played in 47 Bundesliga matches scoring six goals. At Stuttgart he will wear the number 17 jersey, Xinhua reported.

"We are delighted that Tunay Torun has opted for Stuttgart. He is a young player with national team experience who can play in many offensive positions. We expect a lot from him in the three years," Stuttgart sports director Fredi Bobic said.

"Stuttgart is an ambitious club with great tradition so I am very happy to play here in the upcoming season," Torun said.

Stuttgart finished the season on sixth position with 53 points to maintain their chances at an international competition with a ticket for Europa League qualification. (IANS)
