India vs England Test series: In Virat Kohli’s land, Joe Root’ed better

Virat Kohli Test 26Can you compare a cobra’s sting with crocodile’s jaw and speed? Can you compare two fierce predators on their ability to kill? These things are beyond comparison. That’s why two players full of talent and such capability shouldn’t be compared. But that’s how we humans are, we like to indulge ourselves in the competition and keep the atmosphere feisty.

Joe Root has been such a consistent run maker for England that his comparison with Virat Kohli was inevitable. In such short span of time, both have been super consistent and their style has been applauded by ex-cricketers as well as the audience. Joe Root has been making runs all over the world; he has proven himself time and again in such a short span. On the other hand, Virat kohli has left no stone un-turned either. He has been scoring runs for India across all formats. He has been aggressive and loves competition. Both have big appetite for runs and love for their nations makes them two lions in one jungle of cricket, and it will be fun to see how they will surprise us even more in the future.

Joe Root has a special place in his heart for India. He has an impressive average of 101.83 in just nine innings he played against them. He has been openly praised for his temperament, shot selection, foot work and control. All these things make a huge difference while playing against India in their own backyard. They don’t give much breathing space to the opponent but he has been player of a different class. He has played spin as easily as he plays pace. Pitch conditions hardly made any difference to him as he scored runs all over the park in his debut match. These things make or break career of any player but he has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is not so different either. In a cricket mad country, Virat kohli has been that type of player who created a name for himself by breaking several records of the most beloved cricketer of India, Sachin Tendulkar. He has become the most valuable player for the Indian cricket team in limited over’s and test cricket alike. He has been thoroughly consistent and has taken the burden of carrying Indian cricket ahead, on his bare shoulders. A current legend and possibly the highest run getter and century maker for India.

Joe Root Vs Virat kohli

These two are most valuable players for their respective countries. They have been splendid with the bat all over the world. They both have natural talent, they both love batting, both are feared by the oppositions and both are future of cricket.

But in Test cricket, Joe root has his nose above the Indian juggernaut. He averages more than him in 2016. He has scored more runs, has the higher overall average and he has scored runs in English conditions. Virat kohli has not been able to accomplish that till now. But he is improving with each innings and it won’t be easy for Root to hold his ground. He may have the upper hand but Virat Kohli is catching up fast. It won’t be right to compare to these quality batsmen with each other. But something is simmering under the surface. I say, the war is on.
