ISL: Heroes and zeroes in Mumbai FC vs Chennaiyin FC match

John Stiven Mendoza continued with his superb form and struck twice in the second half as Chennaiyin FC defeated Mumbai City FC 2-0 in the Indian Super League at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Mendoza struck the 60th and 66th minute to hand Chennaiyin FC their second victory on the trot.

Here are the hits and flops from the match.

HITS

Subrata Pal (Mumbai City FC):

A very hard day for India’s best goal keeper. Despite his tremendous effort, team's defensive blunder forced him to concede two goals. He gave a lot of effort from the beginning of the game, but the horrific defence could not pay Pal's true value. He made four saves in the match. He saved Mendoza's outside the box shot in the sixth minute of the game, while he thwarted Augusto's attempt outside the box shot in the 26th minute and Elano's accurate free kick just before the half-time. It could be said that Pal saved the team from a shameful loss. He must be disappointed from his team effort.

John Stiven Mendoza (Chennaiyin FC):

There was no surprise about the selection of the player of the match. Mendoza's two goals put Chennaiyin FC on the track for this season at ISL. The first hat-trick footballer of this season scored another brace in these match. The Colombian striker scored his first goal in the match by a goal-making pass from Elano in the 60 minute, while his second goal came from header in 66 minute.{adselite}

FLOPS

Pratesh Shirodkar (Mumbai City FC):

Defensive blunders cost the match for the home team. But Shirodkar was the main villain for Mumbai for conceding the first goal. His lack of concentration cost his team dearly.

Thoi Singh (Chennaiyin FC):

The Bangaluru FC midfielder performed disappointingly from the first minute of the match. He was shown yellow card at the very first minute for an unwanted foul. Also, he could not get crosses into the box in the whole match. His performance was below average in the match.
