Myanmar to host Southeast Asian Games

 

Yangon: Myanmar will host the 27th Southeast Asian Games next year that will see participation from 11 regional countries.

This will be the third time the country will play host to the event.

"Although we will target for more gold medals, we will compete the games with dignity," Sports Minister U Tint San said Saturday.

The event will be held in different venues from Dec 11 to 22, Xinhua reported.

Myanmar earlier hosted the games in 1961 and 1969.

The event is organised every two years since 1959, and includes 32 disciplines.

The participating nations are Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Brunei. (IANS)
