Hyderabad: Amandeep Drall carded 3 over 74 in the second round to maintain the lead in the 12th Leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Hyderabad Golf Club here on Thursday. Sharmila Nicollet carded 2 over 73 to take the second position with a total score of 153 after the second round. The INR 6,00,000 event will culminate on 5th August 2016.
Amandeep started the round on a shaky note carding back to back bogies on the 1st and 2nd holes. She recorded four more bogies on the 7th, 8th , 12th, and 13th holes, while her three birdies came on the 6th, 11th and 17th holes. She finished with a total score of 151 after 36 holes. With a slender margin of two shots, she would look to move into top gear tomorrow to clinch her fourth title of the season.
Hero Motor Corp sponsored Sharmila Nicollet is placed at second position with a score of 153. Sharmila made a fantastic comeback, climbing up the ladder to second position on day 2. In her front nine, Sharmila carded birdies on the 4th and 9th holes and recorded another on the 10th hole in the back nine. Her birdies were neutralized by three drop shots on the 2nd , 13th and 16th holes, and a double on the 5th meant she had to be content with a score of 2 over 73, which was the best score of the day.
Hero Order Of Merit Leader Neha Tripathi is placed third with a score of 156 after 36 holes. She too did not have an ideal start to the round as she carded a triple on the very first hole. She however, quickly resurrected her round by carding two back to back birdies on the 3rd and 4th holes. In the back nine, she added a birdie on the 13th , but bogeys on the 6th , 7th, 12th and 16th holes, along with a double on the 8th dragged her score down to 5 over 77.
Delhi girl Mehar Atwal is placed at fourth position with a score of 157. Mehar played a birdie less front nine carding a bogey on the 5th hole. She carded three more bogeys on the 14th , 17th, and 18th holes, and a triple on the 13th. Her lone birdie of the round came on the 12th hole, and she finished the round with a score of 5 over 77.
Bengaluru’s Nikki Ponappa, Delhi’s Ayesha Kapur and Pune’s Shweta Galande are currently tied 5th with identical scores of 159 after 36 holes.
