New York: Maria Sharapova of Russia advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open after she beat Marion Bartoli of France here yesterday.
Third seeded Sharapova after going down in the first set showed great character to come back and rout her opponent 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the rain affected match.
In another match Wimbledon and Olympic champion Serena Williams routed 12th seeded Ana Ivanovic 6-1, 6-3 to set up a last four with Sara Errani of Italy.
Errani beat her compatriot Roberta Vinci 6-2, 6-4.
