Kumble, Bhajji, Bedi, Chandrashekhar, Ashwin: Indian Spinners in 200-wicket club in Tests

Ravichandran Ashwin celebratesIndia have produced many renowned spin bowlers who had rattled the rivals with the turn, especially in the matches played at home. From Bishen Singh Bedi, Bhagwat Chandrashekhar, Narendra Hirani, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh to Ravichandran Ashwin, India have produced world class bowlers who had won matches on their own when on song. Let’s take a look at the Indian spinners who have scalped over 200 Test wickets.

1. Anil Kumble: He took his 200th wicket against Zimbabwe at Harare. He is the first Indian spinner to grab 400 Test wickets. His records are phenomenal in Test cricket as in 132 matches, Kumble has taken 619 wickets at the average of 29.65. His best figures came against Pakistan where he created history by taking all 10 wickets in an innings. He is still only Indian to achieve that feat.

2. Harbhajan Singh: His 200th wicket came also against Zimbabwe. He is the only Indian spinner to take a hat-trick. He achieved this record against Australia in Kolkata Test match and he still holds this record. Harbhajan had an amazing Test career. He has 417 wickets to his name from just 103 matches with an average of 32.46

3. Bishen Singh Bedi: The legendary spinner of Indian cricket completed his 200th wicket against England at Chennai. In 67 matches he has taken 266 wickets with a average of 28.71.

4. Bhagwat Chandrashekhar: He was one of the spin trio who rattled the rivals batsmen with the spin. He has noticed because of his good performances. He took his 200th wicket against the Aussies in Melbourne. In total he has earned 242 wickets from 58 the matches with an average of 29.74

5. Ravichandran Ashwin: He is the no.1 bowler and No.1 all rounder in ICC test rankings at present. He also won the award of Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2016. He is the quickest Indian to grab 200th wicket and 2nd bowler to behind Clarrie Grimmett to achieve this feat. He has left behind many of the great bowlers in the cricketing history. His 200th wicket came against the Kiwis at Kanpur. He is an asset to the Indian side. From just 44 matches he has picked up 248 wickets with average of 24.96. He has taken 24 five-wicket haul in his wonderful career.
