London: It was curtains for the Indian tennis contingent at the London Olympics Games after their last standing pair of Leander Paes and Sania Mirza were knocked out of the mixed doubles quarter-finals played here at the All England Club yesterday.match

Paes and Sania playing against the top seeded pair of Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka from Belarus in a  which was spread over two days due to bad light lost 5-7 6-7(5).

The Indians were down 2-3 in the second set when deteriorating light forced the officials to stop the match on Friday.

Staring the proceedings yesterday, Indians staged a fight but then the incompetency at cashing in on the break points hurt them dear.

The Indian pair, the best bet medal for the Indian Tennis contingent at the Games got eight break points, but then could capitalize only on one.

They however were able to stretch the match into the tie-breaker but then were not able to deny which the inevitable.
