Polo Cup: Final round flag-off in ChennaiChennai: Polo R Cup 2012 has already proved to be action packed in 4 rounds. With the penultimate round this weekend, the excitement is bound to rise as the season nears its end. Round 4 saw Ameya and Sandeep take the glory in Race 1 and Race 2 respectively, placing them at the top 2 positions on the championship standings.

They are followed by Avdumber, Rahil and Mihir who have showcased some really good racing skills in the season so far. Round 5 will be very crucial as the drivers are looking forward to take advantage of the familiarity with the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) before the championship moves to Buddh International Circuit, Noida for the final round.

Championship leader, Ameya, continued his great form by clinching pole position and winning the Race 1 of Round 4. Rahil Noorani finished in second spot followed by Avdumber Hede. Sandeep started on pole for the reverse grid Race 2 and comfortably led from start to finish. Saurav and Diego started well but could not get close enough to the race winner, Sandeep.

“The drivers have improved their skills round on round. We have seen some really tight chases and very close finishes. The drivers are in very good control of their TSI Race Polo and last 2 rounds have been absolutely clean. Chennai track has surprised me a lot of times and I am looking forward to the penultimate round of the season, “said Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India. “This is going to be the last round in Chennai before we move to BIC, where drivers will get to race on the F1 track which will add great value to their experience,” he added.
