Polo R Cup: Walavalkar takes pole position

Polo R CupChennai: Ameya Walavalkar continued his domination in the JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup 2012 by claiming his third successive pole position for Race One of Round Four at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai. Ameya set the fastest time of 1:59.979 as the Race Polo went under the two minute bracket for the first time since its inception in 2010. Ameya will be joined on the front row by Avdumber Hede, who finished 1.009 seconds behind. Rahil Noorani and Munjal Savla will start on the second row, as they finished 1.072 seconds and 1.685 seconds respectively behind the leader.

 
Ameya was ecstatic to be the first driver to go under the two minute bracket in a Race Polo. Ameya said, “I am very happy to claim my third successive pole position and even happier to break the two minute barrier in the Race Polo. The car felt great and I would like to thank the entire Volkswagen Motorsport team for making it possible to set this quick lap time. I look forward to a clean and flawless race tomorrow.”
 
Starting second on the grid, Avdumber said, “I am happy to be back on the front row of the grid. My aim is to grab maximum possible points to move up in the championship. With Ameya being in great form throughput the season, the start will be crucial and battling with him will be challenging and exciting.”
