Wrestling C’ships: Vinod wins gold

Nandininagar, UP: Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) took the honours on the opening day of the 56th Senior National Wrestling Championships, bagging as many as five medals, including three golds on Friday.

RSPB pocketed three golds and two silvers, while Haryana grapplers also impressed with four medals (1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze).

RSPB's Vinod Kumar opened the tally for his team winning the gold in the 55kg freestyle category. The silver in this class went to Nitin (Punjab) while Delhi's Amit and Anil bagged the bronze medals.

Pradeep Kumar then captured RSPB's second gold in 66kg freestyle division. Arun (SSCB) won the silver while Praveen Rana (Delhi) and Manoj (UP) bagged the bronze medals.

RSPB's third gold of the day came in the 74kg Greco-Roman style when Rajbir Chhikara defeated teammate Rajesh (silver) in the title clash.

Ravinder Khatri (SSCB) and Tirath Rana (Harayana) won the bronze medals in this category respectively.

66kg freestyle: Pradeep Kumar (RSPB, gold); Arun (SSCB, silver); Praveen Rana (Delhi, bronze); Manoj (UP, bronze).

60kg greco-roman style: Anil (Gujarat, gold); Anil (RSPB, silver); Sukhbir (SSCB, bronze); Pradeep (HAR, bronze).

74kg greco-roman style: Rajbir Chhikara (RSPB, gold); Rajesh (RSPB, silver); Ravinder Khatri (SSCB, bronze); Tirath Rana (HAR, bronze).

48kg female wrestling: Neha Rathi (HAR, gold); Kaushalya Waugh (MAH, silver).

55kg female wrestling: Geeta (HAR, gold); Kamlesh (DEL, silver).

63kg female wrestling: Babita (UP, gold); Sakshi Malik (HAR, silver).
