Journey over Geeta Phogat, Tintu Luka in London OlympicsLondon: Geeta Phogat lost to Tetyana Lazareva 0-3 of Ukraine in the repechage round and is out of the London Olympics. 

Earlier. Geeta lost her opening round match Tonya Lynn Verbeek of Canada and luckily the Indian grappler qualified for the repechage round as Verbeek entered the finals.

London: India’s last standing boxer Devendro Singh has been knocked out of the London Olympics after he went down bravely to Paddy Barnes of Ireland 18-23 in the quarter-final bout of the men’s 49 kg light flyweight event here at the Excel Centre on Wednesday.

mary komLondon: Mary Kom’s London Olympic journey came to an end after she lost to World number two Nicola Adams of Great Britain in the semi-finals of the 51 kgs women’s boxing event here at the Excel Centre today.

Five times World Champion Kom who already ensured her of a medal even before she entered the bout could not match the speed and skill of the English boxer to go down 6-11.

Kom failed to win a single round out of the four rounds and the scores in each round reads as 1-3, 1-2, 2-3, 2-3.

Germany thrash India 5-2 at London OlympicsLondon: India lost their fifth consecutive match at the London Olympics as Belgium defeated the higher ranked Indian team 3-0 at the Riverbank Arena. India is the only team out of the 12 team that are participating to not have any points against their name.

Belgium got the lead in the 15th minute when Jerome Dekeyser beat the Indian goalkeeper. The first half ended with Belgium leading one goal to nil.

Gauthier Boccard doubled their lead in the opening minutes of the second half. Indian players looked lost in the middle and failed to threaten the Belgium defence.

London Olympics: Vijender and co ready for the lockdownLondon: Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vijender Singh lost his quarterfinals match against Abbos Atoev 13-17 in the quarterfinal of the men’s 75kg at the London Olympics.

Vijender who was one of the biggest medal contenders for India was knocked out of the competition at the ExCel Arena.

Both the boxers started steadily and the first round ended with both players on three points. The second round saw Atoev of Uzbekistan getting the better of his opponent as he got the two points lead and won the second round 7-5.
