KKR vs KXIP: Players to watch out for in first qualifier

king-xi-team-2014The tournament has reached a stage where we have got the final four and it makes it even more evident from the last couple of encounters that mistakes would mean pack your bags and go home. The first qualifier would be played between the top two teams of the tournament and Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings Eleven Punjab have earned their spot which will keep them in the hunt even if they have a poor match in the first qualifier.

Here is a look at the two teams to be played at the Eden Gardens:

Kolkata Knight Riders

Robin Uthappa: Robin Uthappa is one of the reasons why KKR has been doing so well off late and his form with the bat seems to be getting better and better. Uthappa can take on the bowlers early on and can get his team off to a flying start.

Gautam Gambhir:
The captain has struck form all of a sudden in the tournament after scoring three ducks in a row. Gambhir is a big match player and knows how to pick himself up in crucial stages of the game. To add to that he has tons of experience of playing at the top of the order.

Sunil Narine:
Sunil Narine is by far the best bowler in the Indian Premier league since its inception along with Lasith Malinga. Narine can fox the batsmen and can get a wicket in any stage of the game. His greatest strength is his consistency which gives his captain the assurance of relying on him.

Morne Morkel:
Morkel can extract some serious pace of the track and can pick up early wickets by getting the ball to move from the pitch. Morkel has looked good in the last couple of matches he has played in the tournament and is looking set for many more.

Kings XI Punjab

Virender Sehwag: Virender Sehwag has had a pretty good tournament with the bat in hand but does not have more than one big score to show for in the tournament. He has got off to a start in every match so far but has failed to capitalize on the starts.

Manan Vohra:
Vohra is one of the most talented players in the country and he has shown every one why he is one of the emerging players to watch out for. Vohra’s form with the bat has also been pretty good as he just like Sehwag has got off to a start but has failed to transform that into a big one. With the kind of ability he has it is just a matter of time before he gets his act together and gets that big score we all have been waiting for Kings Xi Punjab.

Mitchel Johnson:
Johnson can rattle any batsmen with his pace and when he gets it to swing with that pace it becomes almost unplayable making life difficult for the batters. Johnson has been expensive with the ball in hand so far in the tournament but a bowler like him will always be dangerous for any side as he can literally run through a side before even they can realise it.

Sandeep Sharma:
Sandeep Sharma has been a real find for India as well as for Kings Xi Punjab in this tournament. Sharma is young and enthusiastic and has the ability to swing the ball both ways which can trouble any batsmen in the world. He has a knack of picking up early wickets which can always set up the match for Kings XI Punjab.
