A captain is as good as his team, says Gambhir; Bhajji critical about his team's batting

Mumbai: A captain is as good as his team, said Gautam Gambhir when praised for the leadership qualities during the post-match presentation after Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians by 32 runs at Wankhade Stadium here on Wednesday.

Happy with the win, Kolkata skipper said, “Credit should go to all the players. As I have been saying since beginning, a captain is as good as his players in the team. If they perform then only can we win. It’s a game of 11 players and not an individual,” said Gambhir, adding that a win today will give them confidence to move further in the tournament.

"I don't think we had enough on the board. But after losing two quick wickets, I think managing 140 was a good enough. If we win the next one we'll be in the top two. If we had lost this we would have been under pressure. Today's win will give us confidence," said Gambhir.

Meanwhile MI skipper Harbhajan Singh wasn’t happy with the way his team batted in the initial overs. “I don't think there was much fault in the wicket. I think we need to sort out our technique. We need to bat well in the first six overs. We played bad cricket today. The first six overs decided our fate. We haven't been playing good cricket. We have done well only in patches. We need to pick up our game, me as well. First we need to qualify for the play off stage and then from there we will think of moving ahead"

Man-of-the-Match Sunail Narine said that he was having a dream run in IPL-5. "I'm having a dream at this moment. My hard work is paying off. Hopefully it will continue. I wasn't too worried about the wickets. I knew they would help me, but not as much as this," said Narine, who came up with a figure of four for 15 in four overs.
