New Delhi: PNB beat Air India by 2-0, while Namdhari XI crushed IOC to 3-0 to enter into the finals of 27th Lal Bahadur Shastri Hockey Tournament being played at Shivaji Stadium in New Delhi, on Saturday.
Bhagat Singh gave PNB 1-0 lead in the 21st minute through a penalty corner. Going into the second half, PNB were leading at 1-0. Dhamandeep scored the second goal for PNB in the 50th minute.
The defenders of PNB played an exceptionally well to keep forwards of Air India struggling. Vanmali of PNB was adjudged as the man-of-the-match.
In the other semi-final, Namdhari XI crushed IOC 3-0 to enter into the final. Namdharis scored goals at the regular intervals. The Namdhari defenders played exceptionally well and thwarted IOC forwards from scoring a goal.
Namdhari XI scored their first goal through Tarandeep Singh in the 22nd minute. Gagandeep Singh converted a penalty stroke in the 42nd minute, while Prince scored the third goal in the 68th minute through a field goal.
Jaswant Singh of Namdhari XI was adjudged man of the match.
