BOC India hosts 20th edition of Seniors Golf Tournament

Kolkata: BOC India Limited, a member of The Linde Group and a pioneer in industrial and healthcare gases in India, is proud to host the 20th edition of the Senior Golf Tournament from January 6-8 at the Tollygunge Club. Synonymous with the spirit of seniors’ golf, the event has over the years become a popular fixture in the golfing calendar of Eastern India. 

This unique golf tournament is a platform for people above the age of 50 years to display their prowess in the game. Founded by Shashi S. Prasad, Lieutenant General K. S. Brar, B. P. Bajoria and B Verma in January 1993, the first Seniors Golf Tournament started with 150-200 participants. The tournament this year expects participation from around 500 golfers.

 

The game will be played in the Stableford Format and will have three different categories. Category A for gentlemen aged 50-60 years, category B for gentlemen aged 60-70 years, category C for gents aged above 70 years, a category for ladies and another for guests, rounds up the divisions based on which the partners are decided.

The tee off will commence at 6.30 am and continue till 12 noon every day. The tournament will conclude with a prize distribution ceremony on 8th January where the winners and runners up from each category will be awarded with trophies such as the Shashi S. Prasad Memorial Trophy instituted in 2010 for category C and J.N Sapru Memorial Trophy instituted in 2009 for the senior most golfer according to age.

Speaking on the occasion, Srikumar Menon, Managing Director, BOC India Ltd, said “We are proud to host the 20th edition of the Seniors Golf Tournament and are hopeful that the tournament will live up to its reputation of being one of the most anticipated golf events in the city’s social calendar. Seniors Golf has grown in popularity over the years and this year we expect to see a turnout of about 500 odd golfers. We look forward to three days of healthy competition and warm fellowship.”
