Shweta, Vani lead at KGA Golf club on Day 1Bangalore: Rookie golfer Shweta Galande and Delhi's Vani Kapoor shared the lead with identical par scores at the end of round one of the Hero-KGA Women's Pro-Golf Championship 2013. The eighth leg of the INR 5,00, 000 Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2013 is being played at the lush green and tricky KGA golf course from the 21st – 23rd of August.
 


Shweta had a strong start with two consecutive birdies on the 3rd and 4th hole followed by three more birdies on the 7th , 10th and 11th holes. She would have been in sole lead at the end of round one had she not faultered with a bogey on the 6th hole and two double bogeys on the 9th and 14th holes. Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor however had a consistent day, finishing as the joint lead with one birdie on the 10th hole and a bogey on the 16th hole.
 


Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana was placed third at the end of round one with a score of four over 76. She had a rough day withfive bogeys on the 3rd, 4th, 8th, 14th and 18th holes and a single birdie on the 13th hole.
 


In form Kolkata golfer Neha Tripathi had a bad day at office, finishing with a score of six over 78 and tied fourth with Kenya’s Bhavi Shah at the end of 18 holes. Neha suffered early setbacks in her round with two consecutive bogeys on the 2nd and 3rd holes, followed by six more bogeys on the 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th and 17th holes. She managed to undo some of the damage with four birdies on the 4th, 8th, 10th and 15th holes.
 


Veteran golfer Smriti Mehra was placed tied sixth with Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma and Delhi’s Shraddhanjali Singh with identical scores of seven over 79 at the end of round one.
