Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) finally settled pending dues of some of the state's biggest names, including India's Test skipper Virat Kohli who was paid Rs 176,400 for captaining Delhi team in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy in 2013. According to a report in The Times of India, the DDCA, which is yet to pay its players for the last season, has sanctioned a sum of Rs 176,400 to India's star batsman.
“Owing to the administrative turmoil in the association, the regular Delhi players got their fees for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons this year. The association also cleared Shikhar Dhawan's fees for playing in the Vijay Hazare trophy last December while the other players are still waiting for their dues. An amount of Rs 237,600 has been cleared in the name of Dhawan. Interestingly, Virender Sehwag, who walked out of Delhi cricket after the 2014-15 season, also received a balance amount of Rs 9,000 to settle his account with the association. Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir too has claimed an outstanding balance of Rs 4,500 and it has been duly cleared by the association,” says the TOI report.
“The bills from these big names were lying with the association for years. If there is surplus money in the association, there's no harm in clearing out as much payment as possible. The association can settle its account once the money comes from BCCI,“ DDCA treasurer Ravinder Manchanda told TOI.
Coach Vijay Dahiya's payments, except for last season, have been cleared. The former India wicketkeeper will get the remaining amount once BCCI sends funds to DDCA.
