New Delhi: Garhwal Heroes Football Club trounced Delhi Veterans Football Club 3-0 to earn three earn points in the DLF Annual Senior Division Football Championship organized by the Delhi Soccer Association at the DDA Jasola Sports Complex here today. Heroes have now three points from one match and Veterans could manage only one point from two matches.
The match which started at a slippery turf due to heavy rains in the afternoon gave the players a lot of difficulties in controlling the ball in the initial moments of the game. But the players settled as the games passed on and came into full groove. The half time ended without a goal being scored.
After the change of ends, Veterans were on the attack and kept Heroes on toes. Veterans created a lot of chances, but bad finishing saw them waste as many as three chances.
Seeing their opponents getting too dominant in the game, Heroes' stepped up the game with their former mid fielding international Asish Pandey and Vivek came in full flow which paid rich dividends .
Garhwal's striker Kamal Rawat capitalized on two good moves initiated from the flanks to score a brace in 64th and 76th minute to put his side 2 - 0 ahead. Substitute Gaimlung Kemei put the last nail in the coffin when he scored in the dying moments to give his side a dominating lead of 3 - 0 with a nice angular shot from a distance..
