Wahingdoh comes out victorious

Kolkata: Meghalaya outfit Royal Wahingdoh stunned former elite division campaigner ONGC FC of Mumbai 4-1 in a first leg encounter of the final phase of second division ‘I'-League football at Siliguri on Friday.

All the goals came in the second session with Chencho striking twice and Jackie Chand Singh and Karim D. Nurain scoring one each for Wahingdoh. Silva Andrea produced the lone reply for ONGC.

Wahingdoh apparently played all the four foreign players in its roster when it made a late substitution in the match, according to an ONGC team official. The ONGC team submitted a protest letter regarding this incident to the match commissioner M.V. Suvarna of Maharashtra after the match.
