Tal Memorial: Anand loses to Nakamura in 6th Rd

anand-2Moscow: India's Viswanathan Anand lost to America's Hikaru Nakamura in the sixth round of The Tal Memorial Chess Tournament in progress in Moscow.


The world champion had lost to Noway's Magnus Carlsen in the fifth round and his sixth round loss to Nakamura pushed Anand in world rankings. It has also put Anand in eighth spot in the 10-player tournament with just two points.


Meanwhile, Nakamura leads the tournament on 4.5 points. Boris Gelfand of Israel is on second position with four points and is followed by Mmaedyarov and Carlsen on 3.5 points each.


Fabiano Caruana of Italy and Dmitry Andreikin of Russia with 3 points are placed on joint fifth spot while Sergey Karjakin is seventh with 2.5 points.
